Laguna

I can remember drawing this piece like it was yesterday, but it was over 11 years ago.
My friend’s daughter had been accepted to attend Laguna College of Art and Design. Since I was an artguy, they asked if I would like to go on the campus tour with them. Well, yeah! You see, I never went to college to be an artist. I would have loved to have gone to the Art Center, Cal Arts, Otis, or LCAD.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have the money to go to these schools, and I didn’t know they existed. When I did learn about them, I was working full-time at a hardware store and had loans to pay off. So, I went a couple of semesters to a junior college learning to draw and then to a trade school to learn how to be a graphic artist.
Back to Laguna. After touring the campus, we had lunch and then walked along the coast for a bit. Once again, I had my Port-O-Studio with me. In it was a new acquisition: a Pentel brush pen. This refillable brush pen has been with me ever since. This was my first drawing with it, and I fell in love. I liked how the ink flowed through the bristles and used it for 90% of the drawing. I finished off the piece with a .01 Micron pen.
I like the heavy graphic look of this piece.
