Meet the Artist

Hi, I'm Ricky Lewison, and I have been drawing nearly all my life. I knew I wanted a career where I could be creative, but I didn't want to draw the same thing every day. For the last thirty-plus years, I have been lucky enough to work as a Graphic Designer in the print and web industries. I have never been bored creating the same thing over and over during that time. Although I was now working on a computer, I kept my artistic skills alive with my constant companions: a pen or pencil and my sketch pads.

Life has a way of getting you on the track you are supposed to be on, and my life is no exception. Divorce and a major illness will make you re-evaluate your life, and I have done just that. I decided to leave Graphic Design to the new school of designers and rejoined the old school. I picked up my pens and pencils and began to create art again.

I work in various mediums, including pencil, pen, watercolor, and French wash (thin washes of oil paint sometimes augmented with colored pencil). The pieces I create bring me joy, usually scenes of nature, drawn from either photo reference or from my mind, from things I have seen. I hope my art brings the viewing public as much happiness as I receive while creating it.
