The Giant One

The Giant One

I took the photo of this magnificent girl while on safari in Tanzania.  She was very cautious, more so than the rest of her herd.  The first thing I saw was her tusks.  Tusks so large that they actually crossed. When she finally poked her head out, my camera started clicking. This was the only view she gave me.

Fast-forward to a year and two months later. I was sitting on the couch on a Saturday morning, wondering what to draw. So, I picked up my phone, went to the photo app, and searched for animals. Guess who showed up? You guessed it, this pretty girl. So, I broke out my Port-O-Studio and got to work.

With a sketch here and a bit of ink there, I had this beauty done in no time—well, actually, two hours. I know I am partial, but I really like this piece and hope you do too.
