Lunch Time

The impetus of this painting was a family trip to Joshua Tree National Park. We picnicked by some fascinating sandstone boulders, and a thought came to me; 'I wonder what these would look like with water flowing around them?' I took pictures of the boulders with my phone and finished lunch.

Once we returned home, I headed to my studio and reviewed my photo collection. I found a lovely image of Big Bear Mountain and some trees from the Olympic National Park in Washington. I found the bear from a quick internet search. Add them all together, and you get "Lunch Time."
